SUMMER PLAYSCHEME

2018

23th July - 30th August

Bookings Close 20th July

We spend the first part of the day doing feeding and routine stock-tasks with the animals. Each child may choose which animal they would like to concentrate on.

Meet the team who will be looking after you: Rachel H, Jacky, Yvonna, Sandra, Nathan, Rachel O, Carole, Lorena, Rachel, Emily & Claire

There will be emailed joining instructions, the week beforehand (sometimes the weekend before) when we will give you any important specific information you might need for the week to follow other than the normal details given below.

Week 1 - Forest School 23rd – 27th July
Always popular, our Forest School Sessions. They are led by a qualified Forest School Leader. We will be focusing on learning tool skills, enjoying woodland crafts, creating structures, using ropes for rope-ladders and swings, den-building, creating a village for the ‘Little Mos’, cooking and fire-lighting. Lots of outdoor fun, rain or shine! - 24 Maximum

Week 2 – Small Animals & Gnome Mania

30thJuly –3rdAugust

We will be concentrating on the small animals all week, adopting a small animal. Each day will end in an Animal show; learning about care, grooming, handling and routine feeding. The small animals will be spick-and-span.  This year a few gnomes have infiltrated into the Holiday Playscheme, we will be making some plaster-of-paris gnomes and creating a Gnome Village. - 24 Maximum.

Week 3 – Drama Week  Week 6th – 10th August

A chance to have a go at everything that involves creating a performance – Rachel O will be back with us to create this amazing week.  One thing that we hope to make is a permanent outdoor stage to perform on (go Nathan), we failed to do it last year but this year we will do it.   So, for those who don’t enjoy dressing up, using make-up, creating a play perhaps building a set / back drop or even using the video camera to film and show the plays later at the end of the day might be an option? There is always the role of director as well! - 24 Maximum.

Week 4 – Mystery Tour or Visit Week 13th – 17th August

Always a favourite. 16 children only per day.  Last year we went to a local farm or somebody came to visit each day – we return this year with similar, because it was very popular.  Not sure yet, which day will be which, but we have a visit from a pony and trap, a local fisherman will be bringing his rods and tackle to teach the children the art of fishing, a visit to the local market, a visit to Raystede and another local farm, planned.

Permission to travel in staff cars will be needed according to our Transport Policy.  This will be requested nearer the time and we will notify you what is happening each day in the joining instructions the week beforehand.

Week 5 - Pony & Fishing Week 20th -  24th Aug

We spend the whole week focusing on Ponies & Fishing. You can choose between ponies or fishing. We will be looking at who can catch the biggest fish, the most fish and even the smallest fish. ‘Fish-related’ crafts will be on offer as well; clay, fish mobiles & paper-mache. The Pony Group will be focusing on pony care; grooming, cleaning tack and there may be an opportunity to sit on one of our ponies; Cracker, Donald & Misty. There will be lots of pony related crafts as well. - 24 Maximum.

Week 6 - Forest School (a short week – no Monday or Friday) 28th – 30th August

We will be focusing on learning tool skills, enjoying woodland crafts, creating structures, using ropes for rope-ladders and swings, den-building, creating a village for the ‘Little Mos’, cooking and fire-lighting.
